Maite Ibern’s academic and professional background bridges scientific research and entrepreneurial practice. She holds a PhD in Pharmacy, a Master’s in Project Management, and has completed executive education programmes in Corporate Finance for Startups at ESADE, as well as Venture Capital training through Invest Europe, ICAB, and Kurma Partners. She also possesses in-depth knowledge and extensive experience in intellectual property, licensing, business development, entrepreneurship, and company creation.
With over 18 years of experience in knowledge transfer, business development, and startup creation across various roles, Maite Ibern currently serves as Head of Entrepreneurship and UABStartup at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. In this capacity, she coordinates the implementation of the university’s strategic entrepreneurship plan, oversees the UAB Archimedes acceleration programme and spin-off creation, and manages the university’s portfolio of companies. She also represents the university in strategic regional consortia such as the Barcelona Deep Tech Node and the Catalan University Entrepreneurship Network.
Since 2021, Maite Ibern has served as a Jury Member for the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator Programme. She brings a strong international dimension to her work, having co-led the Food & Health Entrepreneurship Programme with the University of California, Davis, at the UAB, and developed partnership agreements in the UK by promoting the university’s licensing and investment opportunities.
