Join the first onsite and online event Making Research Results Work for Society on 26 October 2023 in Brussels. The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research & Innovation is organising an awareness raising campaign on knowledge valorisation to introduce the latest policy developments on knowledge valorisation and to demonstrate how research and innovation results can be better transformed into societal and economic benefits.

The conference is co-designed with various research and innovation actors and takes up their inputs received in a public call for contributions. The event will be a forum to exchange ideas, experiences and opinions on success factors and bottlenecks to fully implement the guiding principles. It will award innovative standardisation projects and allow for networking.

Successful implementation of the guiding principles relies on the engagement of stakeholders and their active participation in valorisation activities. Join to learn how stakeholders tackle the paradigm shift and support the new mindset for knowledge valorisation.

Participants will get to know more about the opportunities offered by a comprehensive intellectual assets management strategy that goes beyond protection of intellectual property. Moreover, the event will provide key insights on successful knowledge valorisation through standardisation for faster market uptake, enhancing collaboration and networking and open innovation models to improve circular economy.

The various sessions will facilitate exchange of views and open discussion concerning the most successful practices to be translated in the R&I environment. Practical insights from the projects will be shared enabling collaborative networking opportunities.

As part of the on-going campaign centred around the latest recommendations in support of one of the strategic objectives of the Commission’s new ERA for Research and Innovation for the uptake of research and innovation results to foster economic and societal prosperity. On 2 December 2022 the Council adopted the Recommendation on the guiding principles for knowledge valorisation. This is supported by the Code of practice on the management of intellectual assets for knowledge valorisation in the European Research Area and the Code of practice on standardisation in the European Research Area which were adopted on 1 March 2023.
