David Gardiner RTTP is an Innovation & IP Portfolio Manager at Technological University Dublin, where he leads the commercialisation of research in ICT, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering.
Over the course of his career, he has helped create over 20 spin-out companies, filed numerous patents, and secured significant research and commercialisation funding. He also serves as the Senior Case Manager for the Dublin Region Innovation Consortium (DRIC), a multi-institutional initiative supporting research commercialisation across TU Dublin, IADT, NCI, and DIAS. David is a board member of the Irish Knowledge Transfer Association (IKTA), helping shape national strategy and community development within Ireland’s tech transfer system.
David has co-founded TU Dublin’s Immersive Technology Lab and Rapid Prototyping Lab—developed in response to industry need—and played a leading role in establishing Open Labs, a market-focused initiative that has supported over 200 start-ups and SMEs and delivered significant research engagement and commercial impact. He previously served as Senior Commercialisation Manager at CeADAR (the national centre for Applied Data Analytics and Machine Intelligence).
David holds an Executive MBA, an MSc, and a Bachelor of Business (Honours). He also holds a Diploma in Technology and IP Law from the Law Society of Ireland and is an accredited Registered Technology Transfer Professional (RTTP), recognised by the Alliance of Technology Transfer Professionals (ATTP).
