Ensuring Impact for SSH Research through Digital Innovations.
Hosted by the ASTP Digital Innovations Special Interest Group, this session explores how digital tools can unlock the impact potential of social sciences and humanities (SSH). While SSH research offers deep insights into human behavior, ethics, and society, it often struggles to find a path to real-world application.
We’ll look at how digital innovations—like apps, platforms, data tools, and interactive experiences—can turn SSH insights into scalable, socially valuable outcomes. We’ll also address the practical challenges: finding the right business models, navigating IP and non-commercial pathways, and getting institutional support for impact that isn’t always revenue-driven.
