Vincent Ryckaert received his Civil Engineering Degree and his PhD Degree in Applied Science for his work in Industrial Automation from the University of Leuven. He joined IMEC’s patent group within IMEC Business Development, and was primarily assigned to patent applications in the field of Electronic Design Automation, Telecommunication and Multimedia. He went on to become Head of the IPAI (Intellectual Property for Ambient Intelligence) section of the patent group.
Vincent qualified as European Patent Attorney. He has also followed in-depth training in US Patent, Licensing Law and further developed in-depth expertise in the field of so-called software enabled patents both in accordance with EPO and USPTO practices. He received his diploma on Litigation of European Patents from the University Robert Schuman, Strasbourg, Center for Intellectual Property Studies.
Since 2009, his efforts at IMEC have been directed towards IP business and intelligence work where he further specialises in topics such as IP Due Diligence, Patent Opinions and strategies, arbitration, role of IP experts in business disputes. He received an extra qualification to act as court expert and followed training in arbitration and ,since 2011, offers freelance consultancy services via his own company, TIPEAS BVBA.
In 2018, he completed a postgraduate at University of Leuven on mediation. Furthermore, Vincent is an active member and board member of the TTO Circle. He is also a member of EPI, LES and AIPPI and active in IP working groups of ESIA and EIRMA.
