Professor, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at University of Ljubljana, Slovenia
Matevz Dular is one of the youngest full professors at the University of Ljubljana.
He specialises in fluid mechanics, ultrasound, cavitation and water purification. Despite his youth, Dr. Matevž Dular has worked at foreign universities in Germany, France and the United States for over 4 years, and has also directed several projects for the European Space Agency. He gained recognition for his work already in 2017 when his project of water disinfection by hydrodynamic cavitation succeeded to obtain as much as EUR 2 million of the European Research Council (ERC) grant, winning against strong competition and becoming only the fifth researcher in Slovenia to receive this grant.
In 2019, the Committee of the Republic of Slovenia for bestowing prizes and awards for outstanding achievements in scientific research and development activities awarded Dr. Dular the Zois recognition for his important contribution to understanding the phenomenon of cavitation. In 2020 Dr. Dular also became the recipient of the prestigious Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
