Financial Manager for Dynamic Professional Association | 24 - 40 uur per week
ASTP is a European professional association for technology transfer professionals. Technology Transfer stands for the transfer of technology between universities and research centers on the one hand and companies on the other. The association is non-profit and exempt from VAT; it strives to promote and professionalize technology transfer. This is done by organizing networking and knowledge events such as conferences and training sessions, but also through newsletters, social media and our website. Currently, the association has over 1700 paying members from more than 50, mainly European countries.
We are a small organization with a professional team and operate in an informal and social work environment. Our office is located directly in front of the Central Station in Leiden. Due to the departure of the financial manager, we are looking for a new colleague.
Job description
The financial manager is responsible for the daily financial administration of the association. He/she is also responsible for the maintenance and management of the membership administration.
The activities include:
- overall implementation of the financial administration (debtors, creditors, credit cards, banks, taxes)
- administrative handling of EU projects
- preparing periodic reports (balance sheet, balance sheet, and variance analyses)
- supporting the CEO in preparing budgets
- preparing the annual accounts and managing the audit process
- a source of information for all financial matters (both internal and external).
The general membership administration includes:
- invoicing members (monthly)
- managing the membership database,
- preparing overviews of members and event participants.
This position also includes managing an intern to support these activities.
The financial manager reports to the general director and works closely with the Vice President of Finance (the board member responsible for Finance).

Job requirements:
- able to work independently in a dynamic environment;
- has a sense of responsibility and is accurate;
- good ICT skills and experience working with financial systems;
Experience with the KING administration package is an advantage.
Experience working with Dutch banks, tax systems and the Chamber of Commerce is essential.
Fluent English and Dutch at a very good working level (as both languages are required for a smooth workflow).
