Yes we can't. Making sense of the Research Exemption in Patent Law

It goes without saying that university research is a critical contributor to the progress of science. However, a common question that arises from time to time is whether said university research is at risk of patent infringement. Although research exemption laws exist to address this issue, there is relatively little practical experience about these laws that would provide greater certainty to knowledge transfer office professionals.

This webinar provides an overview of research exemption laws and their requirements across a number of European countries. Consideration is given to whether these laws cover acts conducted within and outside the university, as well as possible solutions for mitigating patent infringement risk in university research, from the perspectives of both knowledge transfer office professionals and external legal advisors.
