Social Entrepreneurship | an impact pathway for academics
KTOs support researchers in the commercial use of research. Yet we all do meet academics who are not motivated by financial outcomes, while they agree on “making the world a better place”. In these cases, social entrepreneurship appears to be a better pathway to impact than just focusing on commercialisation. The challenge for KTOs is to identify and nurture this source of transfer success potential – but:
- What can KTOs do in order to foster academic social entrepreneurship?
- How can the number of social spin-outs may be increased?
- How do we attract impact investment to support university social enterprises?
We will tackle these questions in our one-day workshop “Social Entrepreneurship | an impact pathway for academics” in Prague. Starting with the morning session, we will be inspired by some leading experts on how to fill the transfer pipeline and provide knowledge about nurturing science-based social entrepreneurship. During the interactive impact café-session in the afternoon, we will figure out how to implement lessons learned into our working environment. Your take aways will be hands-on ideas about how to use social entrepreneurship as a pathway to impact.
This ASTP SIG SSHA event is hosted by Charles University, Centre for Knowledge and Technology Transfer in collaboration with Görgen & Köller GmbH.
